I’ve really gotten into Intermittent Fasting (IF), not as a way to lose weight, but as a way to improve my overall health, and maybe even increase my life expectancy. I started with a 16:8 fasting protocol. That means that I fast for 16 hours and eat within an 8 hour window.
Recently I switched to a 20:4 protocol, twenty hours of fasting and a four hour eating window. That was surprisingly easy to do, and I’ve been losing weight since I switched.
Another thing that was surprisingly easy to do: extend my fast from 20 hours to 24. That’s what I did this Thursday. It went really well. Near the end of the fast, I went down to the home gym and completed an excellent workout, setting some Personal Records for most of the exercises.
I’d like to do a 24-hour fast every week. The main issues are logistical, not physical. In other words, I need to time my fast so I can sit down for dinner with the family. I’ll figure it out, I’m sure.
