Yesterday I ran the long loop of my favorite trail run, a 5K, and it took me an hour. My leisurely pace was 18’52”. It felt pretty good, although my left hip felt tight in the beginning.
I got the Apple Watch badge for doing 50 minutes of exercise to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the redwood forest or something like that. I was a little sore so I stretched while I played NMS.
When I was out in California this July, I did a street run, 2.25 miles at at 17’27” pace. That’s my most recent long run. Yesterday was my longest run since I got my Apple Watch in November.
I didn’t get enough sleep, but I feel pretty good today. I also logged the lowest weight since June 9, 2016 (294.2). The lowest prior to that was 279.5 on October 15, 2015. Today I’m 293.5 this morning. Highest recorded weight: April 13, 2018, 319.4.
That means I’ve lost 25.9 lbs. this year, in just under five months. To go lower than my last low weight, 279.5 lbs., I need to lose another 14 lbs. That seems reasonable.
My lowest weight I’ve recorded in the last decade is 257.8, which is 35.7 lbs. lower than where I am now, and 61.6 lbs. below my record high. I’m over a third of the way there.
Interestingly, 257.8 lbs. at 6’3″ is a BMI of 32.2, still considered obese. If I cut my weight to 240, that gives me a BMI of 30.0, or right on the border of overweight. That’s a total loss of 79.4 lbs.
To reach the border of a Normal BMI of 25.0 I’d need to get down to 200 lbs, a total loss of 119.4 lbs. I don’t think the BMI calculations are precisely accurate, because I’m 6’2.5″ instead of 6’3″.
Interestingly, yesterday I blew right through my calorie allocation. According to LoseIt, I was 611 calories over my budget. I had two glasses of wine, but my net carbs were still low, 23 g. Not bad, and it helped that I didn’t have too many carbs for breakfast.
What I’m doing is working. It’s sustainable, and I feel generally amazing. My biggest challenge: exercising too much, overtraining, and then feeling so bad afterwards that I can’t do much else.
